Church Support

Mary’s Meals grew out of the Catholic faith of our founder and early leaders, and is shaped by a Christian spirituality and outlook that affirms that “charity is love, received and given.” Mary’s Meals is named after Mary, the mother of Jesus, who brought up her own Child in poverty. Our mission itself, and the values with which we carry out our mission, reflect the core of our Christian roots. Prayer has always had a special place in the Mary’s Meals story, and we consider our work a fruit of prayer.

Mary’s Meals also consists of, and serves, people of all faith traditions and none; our vision is that every child receive a daily meal in their place of education, and the only requirement to join our mission is the desire to see a hungry child fed, educated, and set free from poverty.

Support from churches and Christians of all traditions is vital for Mary’s Meals to keep the promise we have made to the children we serve and to reach the next hungry child.

Ways for your church to get involved

Getting Started

Mary’s Meals’ mission, to provide a daily school meal to some of the world’s poorest children, thrives on grassroots support from churches like yours. Through awareness activities, prayer, or fundraising, every way that your congregation supports Mary’s Meals with “little acts of great love” helps Mary’s Meals feed more children!

Here are some ideas on how your church family can support Mary’s Meals!

Prayer

Mary’s Meals is a fruit of prayer. Organize a holy hour or other prayer event for Mary’s Meals and for the children who receive Mary’s Meals at their school.

Schedule a Mary's Meals Speaker

Mary’s Meals can send a speaker for a pulpit talk, Mission Appeal, Adult Ed, Sunday school, student ministry, or any other event. We can visit in person or schedule a virtual speaking engagement!

CCD, Advent and Other Religious Ed

Mary’s Meals can offer content for a wide spectrum of your Religious Ed programming. Whether its CCD, Adult Ed, VBS, Advent or other liturgical seasons, let Mary’s Meals provide content to supplement your lessons!

Move for Mary's Meals

Move for Mary's Meals” during Thanksgiving week. Run, walk or move any way you'd like in your own community, and show your church’s support for Mary’s Meals.

Second Collection

Every $0.13 covers the cost for Mary’s Meals to provide another meal, and $25.20 feeds a child for an entire school year. Any second collection – or penny war, bake sale, or other fun fundraisers – is a great gift to Mary’s Meals.
